Wonders and Worries Says “Thank you,” With A Garden

This morning I had an opportunity to meet the staff of Wonders & Worries, one of our Skinny’s Gallery partners.   Wonders & Worries helps children and their families cope when a parent or caregiver has a chronic or life-threatening illness. As a gift to the Paramount, the staff had their youth make us a Feelings Garden.  This is a way for children to understand that all feelings are alright to have during a challenging time such as having a parent with a serious illness. The children create their own Feelings Garden to help name feelings and validate the feelings they are experiencing.  In this case, the flowers expressed their gratitude.

There was a parent at the meeting who is recovering from Cancer.  She told me that groups like the Paramount were able to give her daughter happy memories in a time when things could be very scary and painful.  I was very proud to work for an organization that was able to give back to people in this way.
